War, Peace, and Propaganda

The war in Ukraine, the Genocide in Gaza, and Canada's role in these crises - A discussion on what we can do for peace and justice.

Guest Speakers:

Dimitri Lascaris is a lawyer based in Montreal. He is also a freelance journalist and the host of a YouTube program called “Reason2Resist”. Over the past two years, Dimitri has reported from and conducted interviews in West Asia, Venezuela, Moscow and Crimea. Dimitri will discuss his latest reporting in the West Bank and Lebanon.

Tamara is a PhD candidate at the Balsillie School of International Affairs at Wilfrid Laurier University. She is a member of the Canadian Voice of Women for Peace, Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom-Canada and fellow with the Canadian Foreign Policy Institute. Tamara will talk about her recent trips to the climate summits, Eastern Europe, Russia and Washington D.C. related to the war in Ukraine & NATO and possibilities for peace, climate and cooperation.

Parking Instructions:

Attendees can park underneath Studio.89 (more accessibility friendly and closer to the venue but requires payment via Credit Card) → accessed by going Northbound on Erin Mills Parkway and turning left into 2520 Eglinton Ave Plaza (Plaza on the exact opposite side of the road of Credit Valley Hospital). Drive straight into underground parking and follow signs for “Visitor Parking”. Go towards elevators, go up the ramp to outside, then turn right and keep walking till you approach the front entrance of Studio.89

If attendees do not want to pay for parking, they can also park across the street in the Walmart or iHop Parking Lot. Please allow yourself time for a 5min walk to Studio.89.
